Yes it does and yes it will. In fact it took me two installs and didn't work right in between.

Wait until they get the bugs worked out, it's not worth it yet. I had the beta version and it worked better than the actual. See if you can find that.

Yes it does require Validation and the Validation is done during the install. This means you can't download it from download sites to avoid the Vallidation.

No IE 7 doesn't remove IE 6 in XP. IE 6 is built into XP and will automatically reappear when IE 7 is uninstalled.
Yes, in order to install IE 7, you need to go through Microsoft's validation process. When you install IE 7, IE 7 writes itself over IE 6. However, there is a hack to bypass the WGA validation process and install IE 7. It is better to install the final version instead of the earlier betas and release candidates. This story appeared earlier this day and I thought I pass it on to my readers here as well. Some people have troubles with the WGA checks even though they run a legit copy of Windows. The new Internet Explorer 7 performs a WGA check when you choose to install it, if that fails you can’t install it. This guide is for everyone who has this troubles.

You need to start by download the Internet Explorer installer from the Microsoft website and use Winrar to unpack the files contained in the installer to a dir on your hard drive. After that is done you download the iecustom.dll file and replace the orginal file in the upload folder with it. Once that is done run update.exe from within the update folder and choose to restart at a later time.

Download normaliz.dll and copy it into your system32 directory, restart your computer afterwards. Run xmllitesetup.exe which is located in the update folder as well. Restart your computer once more, once this is done the new IE 7 is ready to use.

You might run into troubles that normaliz.exe can’t be found on your system after the first reboot. If that is the case do the following.

1. Press ctrl-alt-del to go to the task manager.

2. Go to “File -%26gt; Run” in the task manager.

3. Type: ‘cmd’ and push enter. The command prompt window will appear.

4. Type: ‘copy c:\normaliz.dll c:\windows\system32\normaliz.dll’

A user reported that he was able to install Internet Explorer 7 by simply blocking the outgoing connection when the local WGA checks fails. He waited about one minute and then the installer continued.
Microsoft has released the final version of IE7 so u do not need to install RC1. U can download the final release from Microsoft website. If u want to install RC1 anyway it will require validation check. U can't get rid of that! And yes it will replace IE6. But u will be able to get IE 6 if u don't like IE 7. U can bypass WGA by simply disabling ur internet connection while installing IE7
